She’s third on the team in scoring (12.2) and second in assists (3.7) while starting every game.\n\n“We play a lot of minutes together,” said guard Kennedy Blair, who scored a team-high 21 points on Sunday, “so that kind of throws off a lot of our tandem there.”\n\nWoodard was injured midway through the fourth quarter in the paint and bleeding from the face while writhing on the ground. Medical staff initially brought a stretch onto the court before she was taken off in a wheelchair.\n\n“I didn’t see what happened but it was really scary,” Fralick said. “I don’t have many updates or details. She was coherent, knew who she was and where she was and all those things when she left. A very scary moment to see anybody, any athlete have that sort of an incident.”\n\nWoodard missed most of last season due to a torn ACL before recovering and rejoining the lineup. The trip he really wants to make, though, is a visit to the second weekend of the tournament.\n\nLast season, St. John's returned to the NCAA field for the first time since being a First Four team in 2019 but was eliminated in the second round. Ejiofor said he hopes a challenging non-conference schedule will better prepare the Red Storm this year.\n\n\"We battled through adversity and learned a lot about ourselves through those matchups, and we're truly excited,\" Ejiofor said. \"... (This) is entirely different, and the guys are ready for it. Nobody wants to lose in the first round.\"\n\nEjiofor leads St. John's with averages of 16.3 points, 7.1 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game.\n\nSince a 77-71 loss to Providence on Jan. 3, the Red Storm have gone 19-1, with the defeat being a particularly rough 72-40 loss against then-No. 6-ranked UConn on Feb. 25.
